Wireless Infrastructure

Enhanced coverage, higher bandwidth, increased reliability, new applications and services - the demands placed on wireless networks continue to become more exacting. These demands make network deployment and management increasingly more complex. Compounding the challenges are continued pressures to reduce operating costs, customer demands requiring improved speed to market, and ongoing issues with jurisdictional roadblocks.

Our practitioners have extensive experience in driving operational improvements in the deployment of wireless networks. Recent projects include supporting multi-faceted negotiations with wireless network providers and tower aggregators, evaluating emerging infrastructure technologies and deploying tools and processes to maximize their benefits, and the execution of wireless site portfolio optimization programs to reduce ongoing rental expense.

In addition to our extensive interaction with wireless providers, network service providers, tower companies, and equipment manufacturers, several of our practitioners previously were employed by radio engineering firms, radio equipment manufacturers, and fixed wireless providers. We leverage this experience to help our clients with strategic, procurement, and operational decision-making in areas such as:

  • CMRS radio equipment and devices (e.g., CDMA 1x/EV, GSM/GPRS)
  • Land Mobile/Critical Infrastructure voice and data wireless systems (e.g., Project 25, Tetra, Trunking, Simulcast, Multicast)
  • Next generation radio equipment and devices (e.g., IEEE 802.16 ("WiMAX"), 802.20, MIMO, Mesh)
  • Fixed microwave equipment (e.g., LMDS, MMDS, Microwave (PTP, PTMP, Mesh))
  • Site acquisition and site development services (e.g., search ring analysis, zoning analysis, lease agreements, site construction)
  • Infrastructure technologies (e.g., Distributed Antenna Systems, wireless backhaul)
  • Wireless network commodities (e.g., towers, shelters, antennas, generators, batteries, transmission line)
  • Network services (e.g., design, installation, testing, operations, interoperability, maintenance)
